The ordination of the first missionaries from the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions -- Adoniram Judson, Gordon Hall, Samuel Nott, Samuel Newell, and Luther Rice in Tabernacle Church in Salem, Mass., February 6, 1812.
The ceremony is performed by Rev. Jedediah Morse, Rev. Edward Griffin, Rev. Samuel Spring, Rev. Leonard Woods, and Rev. Samuel Worcester.
Also pictured is Ann Hasseltine (kneeling), who later married Mr. Judson and went abroad with him.
