The building has changed hands many times. It was sold to the First African Methodist Episcopal Church in 1876, then the Charles Street Meetinf House Society in 1939. It was granted to the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities in 1947 after which it served Universalist and Unitarian churches until 1961. In 1979, it was sold to a private owner who converted it to office space.

The congregation was absorbed by First Baptist Church ca. 1875.
