The early 19th century saw a dramatic rise in the number of denominations and congregations in the city of Boston. The publishers of the Boston Almanac took it upon themselves to document all of the church buildings and ministers of those congregations, and now we present them to you in digital form.
Fashions come and go, even among religious folks. This exhibit honors influential Congregationalists who contributed to the evolution of the Congregational Way, and who also happened to have great facial hair. Learn more about these men, both famous and little-known, and their contributions to Congregational history, then see who our patrons chose as their favorite!
The American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) celebrated its bicentennial in September 2010. At the Congregational Library, we created an exhibit to commemorate the rich history and global scope of this leading missionary group, using images, artifacts, and recordings from our collection.
Because it was so popular among our visitors, we have created a digital version to share with everyone who was unable to see it in person.
